Project Description: The scope for this project provides funding as identified in the Capitol Fence HSR (Historic Structure Report) for critical maintenance and repairs to preserve the fence at the Capitol Plaza, an important historic structure. The scope consists of ironwork repairs, sandstone repairs, fence stabilization, painting and light fixture restoration. This request is based on an HSR for the Capitol Fence completed in 2015 to serve as a planning tool to guide decisions on preservation and maintenance efforts to avoid treatments that could damage the structure’s integrity. The Capitol Fence HSR, SPWD Project Number 15-A025, was an agency project funded by the Buildings & Grounds Section of the State Public Works Division. The purpose of the Capitol Fence HSR was to identify, evaluate, and provide treatment recommendations and cost estimates for protecting this historic resource.
