Project Description: The scope of this project will develop a master plan, programming through schematic design, and a utility study for long-term development of the Indian Hills Curatorial Center for up to 45,000 square feet of future curatorial space, and fund the design through schematic design documents of the first 20,000 square foot building to house irreplaceable collections. These collections, some dating back 10,000 years, are entrusted to the Nevada State Museum, Nevada Historical Society, and the Nevada State Railroad Museum. The proposed storage facility will centralize and improve preservation of collections currently housed at six locations. This project will be built on existing State Museum property located south of Carson City on Topsy Lane. The building will comply with professional museum standards for climate control, security, earthquake, and access for high-value collections.
