II. Narrative Section 
1. Project Description: This project would provide fiberglass reinforced panels (FRP) to be installed on the walls adjacent to the mop sink in each of the housekeeping utility closets. The FRP shall extend two feet beyond the edge of the sink and a minimum of 54"" above the floor finish.
2. Project Justification: In order to properly maintain the environmental standards inside the facility, the home was constructed with 24 housekeeping utility closets. Over the past 12 years these utility closets have been damaged by normal daily use, water, and corrosive chemicals including soap, bleach, and other cleaning supplies. CFR 483.70 requires that the facility be designed, constructed, equipped, and maintained to protect the health and safety of residents, personnel, and the public. In order to maintain compliance with these regulations the housekeeping utility closets must be repaired. This project provides wall protection for each of these closets and the installation of water, chemical, and impact resistant paneling.
3. Project Background Information: The Nevada State Veterans Home is an 85,000 square foot 180 bed long term care facility governed by multiple federal regulations including 42 CFR 483 - Requirements for States and Long Term Care facilities and 38 CFR 51.60 - Standards applicable for payment of per diem. CFR 483.70 and CFR 51.70 require that the facility be designed, constructed, equipped, and maintained to protect the health and safety of residents, personnel, and the public. This project was identified on a recent facility condition analysis performed by State Public Works.
