II. Narrative Section 
Project Justification (Essay)
Project Description: The terrazzo tile flooring in the main Lobby is severely damaged throughout and should be replaced. This project would provide for removal and disposal of the existing tile and installation of new tile with a 6" cove base.
Project Justification: The tiles are breaking at the corners, the grout is failing and there are significant cracks across large sections of tiles. This is a heavily used area and could pose a safety issue with potential tripping hazards to the public and employees.
Project Background Information: The terrazzo tile flooring cracking and deterioration was documented by Buildings and Grounds in May of 2009. Investigation by Buildings and Grounds into the cracking issue appears that a incorrect thin set was applied for the tiles. Warranty of the tiles was pursured but the warranty period had expired by May of 2009. Also there was no supporting documentation for the warranty period.
